LOVE CAMPAIGN
This week is our annual Love Campaign. We will take to the campus from 10am-2pm every day this week asking the question, "What is Love?" Feel free to swing by either of our tables in Turlington Plaza or at the Reitz Union Collonade. If you can spend a class period at the table, sign up at the Wesley House. For more information, check out http://www.gatorlovecampaign.com
Upper Room Residential Staff 2010-2011 Application
Are you interested in serving on the Upper Room Residential Staff for the 2010-2011 school year? Download the new application today! They are due to Pastor David by February 28.
Spring Break Mission Trip
The mission team is excited to announce that we will be going on our annual Spring Break Mission Trip (March 7-13) to Henderson Settlement in Frakes, KY! (www.hendersonsettlement.com). Henderson Settlement is in southeast Kentucky, nestled in the Appalachian Mountain and in one of the poorest areas of the country. This community reaches out to its residents through various ministries including home repair, a thrift store, school, library, craft shop, youth ministry, and fellowship lunch.
During our week in Kentucky, we will take on a couple home repair projects, as well as help around the main campus by volunteering in the thrift shop and sorting food/clothing, and anything else they need to serve the community. There will be something for everyone!
Alex Miller has served at Henderson Settlement before and is helping lead this trip. Talk to him, Christina, Jenny or David if you have any questions or need more information.
Cost will be $225 which includes transportation, food, lodging and t-shirt! We will provide some resources for you to raise support from family, friends and your home churches. If cost is still an issue, David is working to find some donors to make scholarships available for those who need them.
Spring Break Monastery Trip
In addition to the Spring Break Mission Trip, there is now a contemplative retreat option offered as an alternative to the traditional Spring Break. We will be taking a small group to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, GA (http://www.trappist.net). The trip leaves on Monday, March 8 and returns on Thursday, March 11. We will travel together and attend services and meals together, but the rest of the time is yours to connect with God, relax, and recharge (much of the week is spent in silence!). The cost of the trip is $200. Pastor David, Dan, and the Upper Room Staff have all been to the monastery, so if you have any questions about the experience, feel free to talk to any of them.
Spring Schedule
During the spring, there will be worship every Sunday morning at 11am in the PDCSC. Following worship there will be free lunch for students. In addition, we will be getting together in the PDCSC on Thursday evenings at 8pm for The Gathering, our night of Bible Study and small groups. There will also be missions projects and hang out nights throughout the semester, so keep a close watch on Facebook and the calendar above for details.
Check out our new Flickr page!
We have a new way of sharing photos with you- through our new Flickr page. Right now it just has a few photos from last year and then some expanded looks at the curent building construction, but we will be using this resource this year to easily share some photos of what's going on. Feel free to visit the page here and save it to your bookmarks.
Can You Give Someone a Ride to Worship?
This semester, we have a few
students who live further away from campus and need rides to church.
If you are willing and able to give someone a ride on a Sunday, please
email Dan at dan@gatorwesley.com so he can connect you with people who
need a ride. Thank you in advance for helping these students get to
worship!
